High school players should reach out to the boys and girls travel coordinators for current teams within the older age groups. |
Tryouts will begin starting April 7th, see the schedule below. Players are required to attend at least one of the two tryouts within their age group. They can attend both if they wish, and their highest rating will be used for their evaluation (not averaged). If they do not attend either, players are not eligible for the “A” Team and will only be placed on a team if a roster spot is available. Trainers and Harrison SC coaches will be conducting all tryouts and evaluating all the boys and girls for each age group. Both tryout sessions will be run the same way, and the same criteria will be used. The tryout will consist of various technical skills, activities, and small-sided game play.

Should we need to postpone due to weather, you would be notified as soon as possible via email. In the event of inclement weather, we may move evaluations to the week of 4/13.
NOTE: If we need to hold a 3rd evaluation session, you will be notified as well.
Important FAQs:
– Trainers & HSC head coaches and their assistants within the age group will conduct the tryouts.
– Players need only attend one tryout if trying out in their age group.
– If a player attends both tryouts within their age group, their best score will be used.
– Registration for tryouts is open and will close April 6.
– If a player is offered and accepts a spot on a Harrison SC roster, a remaining fall ‘26 registration fee of $150 will be due within 48 hours.
– This registration fee includes funding for a team trainer once per week. It does not include a uniform. We are in the middle of our 2-year uniform cycle. New travel players will need to purchase a new kit.

Please review our previously published Age Change Communications and read below carefully on HSC Tryout Guidelines (mandated by USSF* and NJYS*) so you know how to correctly register your child.
U8 Boys & Girls: The only age group eligible is U8 (any U7 looking for the possibility of an evaluation should contact president@harrisonsoccerclub.org). New U8 travel players will not be allowed to play up one year.
U9-U14 Boys & Girls: All incoming U9-U14 players in Fall 2026 are eligible to play up ONE year. However, it will be required that:
(1) The player MUST attend at least one tryout in his/her age group unless they are school age with the age group above (August 1- Oct 1 DOBs). Failing to attend one tryout in the player’s age group will result in that player being placed on the lowest-rated team in their age group, as long as a roster spot is available.
(2) Players may attend a second tryout for the age group one year older than their own. Those attending tryouts at multiple age groups understand that placement will be determined solely by tryout performance. If a player tries out for an older age group, placement will be based on the highest-rated team achieved, with the older age group used as a tie-breaker. Example: If a player earns an A team spot at U9 and a B team spot at U10, they will be placed on the U9 A team.
The Executive Board reserves the right to make exceptions when necessary to ensure players are placed in the most appropriate developmental environment. As in previous years, teams are formed based on tryout ratings, and all placement decisions are final. Team selection is not a player’s choice.
As a township soccer club, our primary focus is to provide as many young travel players as possible the opportunity to play for Harrison SC while ensuring they are placed according to their current skill and ability.
(3) If you intend on having your child tryout to play up one year when asked during registration: Will the player be attending tryouts one year up? select yes
